M’Dears Bakery & Bistro is an exceptional small business that I would like to take the time to mention due to its friendly and most welcoming atmosphere that allows all patrons to experience world class Southern hospitality as well as a number of the fine Southern dishes that one would only expect to find in the American South.

M’Dears is a prime example of what it means to come together as a cohesive community since one of the first things that you’ll immediately notice as a patron once you seat yourself in the Louisiana style dining area, and once you place your order, are the various ethnic groups that come to dine at this fine establishment, which has an official A rating at the time that this article is being written.

I as a consumer and as a connoisseur of fine foods must also give M’Dears an A rating for several reasons that I’ll list below.

First, because M’Dears is an establishment that welcomes everyone, which is something that I’ve witnessed with my own two eyes since I have dined across from Asians and Hispanics and whites and African Americans, who seemed to collectively feel perfectly at home.

Second, because when it comes to hospitality the staff at M’Dears seem to get it right every time, which is refreshing since I have visited certain establishments like Buffalo Wild Wings who seem to feel as though they’re doing you a favor when it’s actually the other way around since there are a number of fine and less expensive restaurants to choose from.

Third, because M’Dears lives up to the slogan “Elegant Southern Cuisine With A California Twist.” The slogan appears on the pink and black to go menu in upper case letters just like I’ve displayed them in this news article.

Fourth, because the Southern style menu at M’Dears is unparalleled. For example, if you’re in the mood for a satisfying burrito that has a good mixture of protein and starch, you can order the M’Dears Burrito, which comes with country potatoes and eggs and cheese and your choice of pastrami or grilled chicken for only $6.95. You can also order the Wings & Waffle breakfast with 2 eggs for $ 9.95, and if you’ve never had waffles and eggs and chicken wings for breakfast, then you’re definitely missing out.

Kids of all ages seem to love M’Dears just as much as the adults because I’ve personally witnessed children ordering a stack of sweet potato pancakes as well as banana nut pancakes and sweet potato waffles, which are absolutely delicious.

Now aside from the breakfast items that I’ve already listed above, the adventurous patron can also dine on the Po’ Burrito for lunch, which can either come with catfish or with snapper or with shrimp for the reasonable price of $8.95. Another patron favorite is the Soul Burrito which contains red beans and rice as well as a fried breast of chicken and cheese and sour cream for $6.95. The Salmon Burger is another fine lunch item that comes with M’Dears famous salmon croquette that’s grilled with special sauce and that’s served with sweet potato fries for $8.95.

The dessert menu is also filled with a number of delicious items. For example, M’Dears specializes in sweet potato pies, pecan pies, apple pies, and mouth watering lemon cheese pies that are like no other. Plus you can either purchase their peach cobbler or their apple cobbler or their delicious blackberry cobbler by the serving or you can order one for a special occasion.

You can also order one of their red velvet cakes or one of their coconut pineapple cakes or one of their chocolate walnut fudge cakes or you can purchase it by the slice when it’s available since their sweets are also patron favorites.

The supper specials or the dinner specials or the entrees, which include smothered chicken, turkey meatloaf, pot roast, oxtails, chicken fried steak with country gravy, fried catfish, gumbo, and smothered pork chops, are also something that you should definitely try while dining at M’Dears which is conveniently located at 2450 Carson St. Lakewood, CA. 90712.

M’Dears telephone number is 562-420-2400 and their hours are 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00am to 11:00pm Friday through Sunday.

My personal favorites are the smothered pork chops, the oxtails, the gumbo, and the chicken fried steak with country gravy. I also like the fried catfish and the turkey meatloaf.
